REC Puts DEI Efforts at the Forefront
Wednesday | December 23, 2020

REC understands the value that is created when an organization encourages, embraces and embodies a workforce that is made up of employees with a variety of experiences and perspectives. With that goal in mind, REC is leading the way in the area of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).

Carrying this value into the community, Fafa Baker, PhD, REC’s workforce planning and development specialist, took part in the Richmond Diversity Dialogue Day on Dec. 1 and 2.

Led by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities (VCIC) with the support of Dominion Energy, facilitators spoke with 100 Richmond-area students about the roots of bias and prejudice and gave them an opportunity to do some action planning for the schools.

“As a volunteer facilitator, I co-led a small group of high school students through virtual conversations,” Baker said of her role.

VCIC works with schools, businesses, and communities to achieve success by addressing prejudices, in all forms, in order to improve academic achievement, increase workplace productivity, and enhance local trust.  Through workshops, retreats, and customized programs that raise knowledge, motivation, and skills, VCIC develops leaders who work together to achieve success throughout the commonwealth.
