Staying Ahead: Payment Options
We recorded today’s episode via Zoom with Casey Hollins, Director of Communications and Public Relations for Rappahannock Electric Cooperative to learn about all the payment options available to Rappahannock Electric Cooperative member owners.
Casey reminded us that REC has made the decision not to perform disconnections due to non-payment during this COVD-19 pandemic. She also walked through all the different options for making payments – as little or as much as you can – in order to not fall so far behind that it seems impossible to catch back up. Those options include:
Text Alert Tutorial
We were in the studio with Casey Hollins, Director of Communications and Public Relations for Rappahannock Electric Cooperative to get a quick tutorial for setting up REC outage alerts via text message.
Due to a recent system upgrade, if you signed up for REC outage alerts via text before March 2020, you will need to sign up for them again either on the website or via the SmartHub app on your mobile device. Be sure to have your account number handy.

Tools to Manage & Monitor Your Energy Usage
We were in the studio with Louis O’Berry, Energy Management Advisor for Rappahannock Electric Cooperative to get a tutorial on the MyREC SmartHub app and desktop tools available to REC members at the touch of a finger. We talked about all the tools found within SmartHub, how they work and why they’re an important piece to managing and monitoring your electric usage.

Energy Saving Tips
We were in the studio today with Louis O’Berry, REC Energy Management Advisor to get some tips on saving energy & money on our electric bills. In December 2017, Louis made his “debut” on the show giving us money/energy saving tips; and, that show was chosen as “Best Documentary/Public Affairs Program” by the Virginia Association of Broadcasters at their summer conference in June 2018. This episode, we talked about the MyREC SmartHub app and the benefits of using this tool to monitor your energy usage.
