Warning From REC: Scam Alert
Monday | July 15, 2024

REC has received recent reports of individuals coming on to members’ property and posing as REC representatives. These scammers are requesting access to property, claiming REC will cover solar panel installation costs, and presenting information about a non-REC transmission line. Please be alert for anyone visiting your property or contacting you by phone and claiming to be from REC.

Keep in mind:

  • REC does not pay for or provide solar panel installations. We only provide guidance on solar energy for residences and businesses.
  • REC personnel and contractors use clearly marked vehicles, wear uniforms, and carry proper identification.
  • REC may occasionally need access to your property for various reasons related to your electric service, such as to inspect a meter or clear right-of-way of vegetation.
  • Report any suspicious visits or calls to local law enforcement.
  • If you are unsure whether a visitor or caller is an REC representative, call REC directly at 1-800-552-3904 to confirm.

Share this warning with neighbors, friends, and family to prevent others from falling victim to this scam.
