Dancing for a Cause: REC’s Tod Dodson Stars in Madison Fundraiser
Wednesday | May 14, 2025

When Tod and Kim Dodson stepped onto the dance floor, they weren’t just dancing – they were making a difference for children in their hometown of Madison. But even as they began their routine, they had no idea how significant their impact would be.

REC proudly supported the event as a Gold Sponsor, helping set the stage for a night filled with community spirit and generosity. The Dancing with the Stars fundraising event featured a dinner, auction and a spirited dance competition between three local couples. Votes were cast at $1 each, and just that portion of the evening raised more than $17,000.

In total, the event raised $120,000 for the Madison Boys & Girls Club.

“It's totally mind-blowing to see that amount was raised in a single night,” said Tod Dodson, Fiber Projects Coodinator at REC. “And we were a part of it. It was truly an experience.”
When organizers approached the Dodsons to participate, the couple couldn’t turn down such an incredible opportunity to give back. Both from Madison, and with six kids, they know how important the Club is to local youth.

With no formal dance background, they dove into weekly lessons, learning everything from foxtrot basics to fancy footwork.

"Kim and I are still wowed by how it all came out. It was a blast – nerve-racking at times – but a blast,” Tod Dodson said.

Joining in the night’s events, Lindsey and Bryan Coffey, an REC Distribution Designer, and Angela and retired REC employee Ben Berry came out in support.

“It was great to see REC come out and support an event like this,” he added.

The evening was a celebration of generosity, hometown pride, and the power of community. For the Dodsons, it was a chance step out of their comfort zone – and into the spotlight – for a cause that matters.

Thanks to REC’s support and the community’s enthusiasm, the event didn’t just crown dance champions. It helped champion brighter futures for the children who count on the Madison Boys and Girls Club every day.
