REC CEO Engages with Members in Telephone Town Hall
Friday | April 4, 2025

REC's President and CEO John Hewa spent Thursday evening with REC member-owners on a telephone town hall.

Known as Power Hour, the event is a live phone call during which the Cooperative dials 50,000 REC members and invites them to listen live to receive updates from REC.

Hewa provided updates on the extreme cold winter weather that drove up power bills, shared statistics on REC’s continued growth, discussed the data center wave impacting the region, and gave an overview of Hyperscale Energy Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC that the Cooperative formed to serve large data center members.

He then took questions live from members, covering topics such as reliability, data centers, vegetation management, electric rates, and clean energy. Hewa encouraged members with additional questions or who need to help related to bill payment to follow up with REC’s staff. Cooperative members can reach REC by calling 800-552-3904.

“Power Hour is just one more way REC is looking out for its members, living the Cooperative values and keeping members informed,” said Casey Hollins, Managing Director — Communications and Public Relations.
