REC is proud to announce that it has awarded $20,000 in scholarships to 17 outstanding students across its service territory.
The Community Scholarship program is part of REC’s continued commitment to supporting education and strengthening the communities it serves. Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors and current college or technical school students who demonstrate academic achievement, community involvement, and a clear vision for their future.
“This scholarship program is one way REC helps open doors for the next generation,” said Casey Hollins, Managing Director – Communications and Public Relations. “By supporting students on their journey toward higher education or workforce training, we’re investing in the future of our communities and in the young leaders who will help shape it.”
We are proud to announce the 2025 REC Community Scholarship Recipients!
The following students each received a $2,500 scholarship:
- Grace Lasher, Fauquier County – Liberty High School
- Hunter Lutz, Culpeper County – University of Virginia
The following students each received a $1,000 scholarship:
- Sarah Carter, Frederick County – Millbrook High School
- Delaney Cruey, Madison County – University of Virginia
- Kaden Evans, Clarke County – Clarke County High School
- Joselyn Flores, Culpeper County – Eastern View High School
- Shamari Garnett, Essex County – Virginia Commonwealth University
- Haley Gordon, Hanover County – Patrick Henry High School
- William Lillard, Madison County – Madison County High School
- Hailee Strom Mickle, Caroline County – Virginia Commonwealth University
- Olivia Nay, Greene County – William Monroe High School
- Damian Schafer, Warren County – Laurel Ridge Community College
- Glori Sell, Rappahannock County – Rappahannock County High School
- Isabel Vasbinder, Orange County – Liberty High School, Bealton
- Brandon Wallace, Louisa County – Louisa County High School
- Victoria Whitt, King William County – King William High County High School
- Eden Wright, Spotsylvania – Liberty University
Applications for the 2026 REC Community Scholarship will open Sept. 1, 2025. Eligible applicants must plan to attend an accredited college, university or technical/trade school and have a parent or guardian who is a member of REC.
