REC Challenges Local Businesses to Join in Holiday Giving
Wednesday | December 23, 2020

REC is fully immersed in the season of giving. The Cooperative has sponsored, donated and participated in a variety of holiday events.

As part of 101.5 WRAR’s Christmas Wishes radiothon supporting social services in the counties that makeup Virginia’s Middle Peninsula, REC made an initial $1,000 donation to the Essex Salvation Army.

“We made our donation a challenge to other local businesses to get them involved, too,” said Casey Hollins, director of communications and public relations. “We thought it was a great opportunity to partner with local businesses to give back to the community this holiday season.”

The Essex County Sherriff’s Department matched REC by donating $1,200 and REC donated an additional $1,000. These funds will be used to help individuals in need of basic necessities as well as provide Christmas gifts for children who would otherwise not receive any gifts. In total, REC’s donation will benefit seven counties.
