REC Member-Owners Elect 3 Board Members at 2024 Annual Meeting

More than 18,000 REC members elected three of their peers to the Cooperative’s Board of Directors as part of the Annual Meeting on Aug. 7.

  • In Region II, Christopher Shipe was re-elected. This region includes the counties of Clarke, Fauquier, and Stafford, and the portions of Warren and Rappahannock County east of U.S. Route 522.
  • In Region III, Darlene Carpenter was re-elected. This region includes the counties of Albemarle, Greene, Madison, Rockingham, and the portion of Page County located south of U.S. Route 211.
  • In Region VIII, Eric Paulson was re-elected. This region includes the counties of Hanover and Goochland. 

“REC is a democratically-controlled organizations,” explained Casey Hollins, Managing Director – Communications and Public Relations. “This election was one more opportunity for people to get out there and vote for the local representatives to serve on their Board of Directors.” 

During the Annual Meeting, John D. Hewa, REC’s President and CEO, and Board Chairman Christopher Shipe also shared highlights of the Cooperative’s accomplishments in 2023 and provided a preview of what REC has planned for the rest of 2024 and beyond.
