REC Recognized as Top Employer for Interns
Friday | April 5, 2024

REC was recently recognized as a top employer for interns by the Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership, which is administered by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.

The annual award celebrates Virginia employers who provide high-quality internships to students. Some of the noteworthy efforts of employers include exposing interns to senior leaders, structured mentorship programs, housing allowances, paid time off, security clearances and training for industry certifications.

“Being recognized as one of the 2024 Top Employers for Internships indicates that REC prioritizes the development and well-being of its interns and provides a positive and enriching experience that prepares interns for future careers,” said Fafa Baker, Organizational Development Specialist. “This recognition also indicates our programs are of high quality where the experiences are meaningful and valuable leading the interns to grow professionally. We’re proud and honored of this designation.”

In the past three years, REC has welcomed 17 interns to support departments across the cooperative.

“I’ve held two internship positions at REC which have provided me with invaluable opportunities to learn and grow,” said Mary Kate Bowers, who is interning with the Communications & Public Relations Department. “I’ve had the chance to work autonomously on various projects which has allowed me to take ownership of my work and sharpen my skills. This experience has been instrumental in my professional development, equipping me with the tools and knowledge I need to excel in my future career.”
