Nonprofits: Apply for Funds from The Power of Change
Tuesday | July 9, 2019

Rappahannock Electric Cooperative’s (REC) The Power of Change program is ready to support local charities and non-profit organizations. Applications for funding can be submitted now through 5 p.m. on Aug. 9.

Since 2008, The Power of Change has helped dozens of community groups by funding programs that feed the hungry, enhance performing arts programs, provide crisis support services and more throughout REC’s service territory. The program is funded by REC member-owners, who voluntarily round up their electric bill to the next whole dollar each month, contribute a set amount each month or make a onetime donation.

“REC employees live in the same communities as our member-owners, and we all see the challenges nonprofits face to fund their important services,” said Matt Faulconer, REC’s manager of external affairs. “The Power of Change is just one way REC is proud to make a difference.”

Applications are available online at www.thepowerofchange.org. The website also provides guidelines for funding and a list of organizations who have previously been awarded funding.

REC STORIES

Following a severe thunderstorm on Tuesday, May 4th, power has been restored to all except just over 500 as of 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 5th.
The pandemic provided many of us a chance to step back and gain a new perspective.
Trees are the top cause of power outages, and REC robust vegetation management team works to keep that number as low as possible.
