REC Makes Substantial Progress in Wind Storm Jett Outage Restoration
Monday | February 17, 2025

As of 11:30 a.m., REC crews have restored the majority of outages caused by Wind Storm Jett, with most of the remaining outages expected to be restored by 10 p.m. this evening.

Some smaller outages, however, will linger into Tuesday.

The weekend’s heavy rains left the soil saturated, so the powerful winds not only broke branches, but also uprooted trees onto power lines. At least a dozen poles were broken. For some outages, crews are using specialized equipment to reach damage sites and rights-of-way.

Looking ahead, REC continues to closely monitor the weather system expected Wednesday and Thursday, and our teams will be prepared for any snow-related damage even as we continue to respond to outages from Sunday’s wind storm.

Important safety reminder:  If you see a downed power line, always assume it is energized and dangerous. Stay away from the line and anything that might be in contact with it. Call 911 and contact REC at 800-552-3904 to report downed power lines.
