YOU have the POWER to SAVE on Your Electric Bill!
Monday | March 7, 2022

Bringing snow, sleet, ice and bitter-cold temperatures, 2022 got off to a rough start! REC is counting down the days to spring with you.

Even with spring on the way, your electric bill this month still reflects your energy use from over the winter.

When it’s bitter cold out, our heating systems work overtime to keep our homes comfortable – and it’s likely we were all inside more often and using other energy hogs such as washers and dryers, and electronic equipment.

You may say, “I didn’t change the thermostat so why is my bill higher?”

In the winter, more energy is used for heating than is used in the summer for cooling. An electric heat pump will often rely on the auxiliary heating component when the outdoor temperature is about 32 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. Unfortunately, we have had our share of very cold days this winter. Homes will use more energy during the coldest periods of the day, which are usually overnight while we are asleep and right before sun rise when the daily low temperature is reached.

Up, up and away with high energy costs! Drive down energy use and lower your electric bill. Start your PowerSaver training at MyREC.Coop/Save.
