Meeting the Challenge of Rising Electricity Costs
The electric industry is entering a period unlike anything we've experienced in decades. Demand for electricity is growing rapidly, costs are increasing across every part of the electric system and electric cooperatives must prepare today for the challenges of tomorrow.
A Journey That Shapes Future Leaders
Four area high school students represented REC during the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour in Washington, D.C. The annual weeklong event is hosted by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). REC delegates were Lincoln Stuart of Eastern View High School in Culpeper County, Adrian Keyser of Chancellor High School in Spotsylvania County, Maia Parks of Millbrook High School in Frederick County and Noreen Ndonde of Albemarle High School in Albemarle County.
Building for What’s Next: Millbrook Substation Nears Completion
Crews are putting the finishing touches on REC’s Millbrook Substation, near Winchester, bringing a major reliability investment closer to completion. Outside the station, wooden poles originally installed decades ago are being replaced with modern steel structures designed to better withstand severe weather and reduce the risk of outages.
